This is my first official review on something, so please be a bit lenient on me while commenting :)
So today I am going to share my opinions on the best available hair straightener in the market at the moment- GHD IV Styler

A bit of History-
I bought this product about two years back now, and I am telling you this was the best buy ever. I owned a Conair Hair Straightener before that which I bought for $50 NZD from Farmers. In the start I liked it (since I was new to hair straightening I didn’t know much) but after 3-4 months when the coating on the ceramic plates of the iron started to come off my straightener started pulling my hair while ironing. I hated to lose my hair because of all this tugging and pulling. Also when it was humid/rainy my hair will start frizzing up very quickly. So it was almost like I straightened my hair and while my walk to the bus stop my hair will roll up again... arrgghhh what frustration. Why did I spend 45 minutes of my lovely morning frying up my hair when it has to just all maggied-up again?? All that time when I could be just snuggled up in my bed or rather would have my breakafast is wasted, what a shame!
It was time to change my straightner... but what to change for? There is so much out there... Ramington, BabyLiss, Chi, VS Sasoon,... GHD... I am confused. Moreover GHD is like you have to spend a fortune on this straightener. What to do now? What to buy?
I finally made my mind for GHD and did an intensive research on this product to find if this was really worth the money. And guess what after one week of reading and researching I finally bough it.
Buying GHD-
Buying GHD is another thing to be careful with. Since GHD is such a famous product there are so many counter-fit products available, especially if you buy it from Ebay or Amazon. GHD takes no responsibility of the products sold on these websites (or other makeup websites). If you look for- you can find dozens of videos on Youtube for girls bought their GHDs from Ebay and their GHDs turned out to be counter fits. Some of them are so alike that you can’t find any difference. In NZ authentic GHDs are only sold from any Rodney Wynes or from Shampoo n Things shops. If you are buying it from anywhere else GHD doesn’t take any responsibility (confirmed this with a GHD rep). Once you buy it is a good idea to register in online on the GHD website, this will ensure that if something goes wrong with your magic wand GHD will fix it for you (it comes with a 2 years warranty)
About the Product-
I bought my GHD from Shampoo n Things, Downtown Auckland. And after my first use I was astounded, what a straightener, it glides through my hair. No tugging / pulling, and my hair are straight like a straw. And look at this shine, softness and lustre in my hair. Seems I am just out from a saloon. I loved this product and I am still using it. I bought a beautiful bag with it as well to keep my GHD secure when I am traveling.
Cost- I bought it for $370 but there are promotional offers on going all the time, so maybe if you keep an eye you might get a bargain
Troubleshooting-
Okay, I know this product is the best out there, but there is one thing that you need to know about this product if you stay in colder regions of the planet. One day it was a cold winter morning and I was in a rush to be ready for my office. I am all dressed up with my hair all messed up (nice rhyme there :)), and now it’s time for my GHD to show it’s magic. But hang on, what just happened? I started my GHD and it is constantly beeping, not heating up, not working... aaaaaaaaaaauuuuuchhh my GHD broke!!! But I bought is all genuine, even registered it on the website (if your product gets registered on the website that means it is authentic. You can’t register an un-authentic GHD it rejects it) it was working just fine till yesterday, what happenedL? I was paranoid, I even shot a video in the morning (will post it here) as an evidence for the GHD ppl ;). I pulled out my old Conair and fixed my hair and rushed to office. The first thing I did at work was to call GHD customer support. I reported them the issue hoping I get a positive reply. And so did I, they told me my GHD was just fine it was just in the ‘safe mode’. Since it such an intelligent product it puts itself in a safe mode if it is below 8 degrees, I believe to avoid the internal parts getting damaged in very cold environment. The environment needs to be 8+ for GHD to work. So since then I keep it in my drawers to avoid it ‘cooling down’ a lot.

If I get to take 5 things if I am stuck in deserted island, one thing in my bag will surely be my GHD. I am in Looove with the tool :)
